“Your account has been temporarily suspended. Please contact support for assistance.”

Awesome! So, you have done nothing wrong but have been given the ban hammer. It happens more often than you might think. Online poker sites have really tightened up on their security measures, though their intentions are often a matter of controversy. Regardless, if you have a suspended Absolute, Cake, Full Tilt, PokerStars, or UltimateBet account, we are here to help.

Your first course of action should not be sending threatening emails. Surely you will be tempted, but what good will come of it? Do you think that making threats is going to expedite the handling of your account? Of course not. In fact some of the support staff at the major online poker sites have rather brilliant senses of humor, they will take your anger with a grain of salt.

Now that you know what not to do if your online poker account is suspended, what should you do? If you hadn’t done so the instant you saw the suspension notice, consider any possible reasons that your account would be suspended. Maybe you had a friend over playing poker on your computer. Two different players using the same IP address is often a red flag for poker sites. You can’t really blame them for being concerned about one computer having two users. This, though, is usually a pretty easy issue to resolve. Another common suspension in the online poker world stems from a recent deposit or withdrawal that you may have made. Generally speaking there is no real “problem” at all, but they need to temporarily suspend your account to make sure everything is OK. This issue is usually resolved by verifying a deposit to the site, or by sending in some documents to prove the ownership of your account.

Perhaps you have no clue why your poker account was suspended. This requires you to simply contact the poker room’s support to get to the bottom of the issue. UltimateBet and Absolute Poker have Live Chat, while Cake, Full Tilt, and PokerStars do not. If a phone number is available that is the next best choice (perhaps it is the best choice, whichever is more convenient, chat or phone). Most poker sites, however, only offer email support. Simply go to that sites home page, find their “Security” or “Support” department email and let them know that you would like to find out why your account was suspended and that you would like to get it resolved as soon as possible.

As a whole online poker customer service is top notch, but sometimes you will wait days waiting for a reply from a site. In the end all you can do is your part and then wait for them to do theirs. Good luck dealing with any issues you may run into and better luck not running into any at all!
